Authority & backlinks
Links and prominence are the web's citations: earned slowly, faked badly. Affects: SEO + AIO
Why the rest of the web votes
Search engines treat links from reputable sites as citations: independent evidence that your content matters. Domain age, brand mentions and measured popularity point the same direction. AI assistants lean on prominence too; they cite sources their training and browsing already trust.
Authority compounds slowly. It is the part of visibility you can least shortcut, and the part bad actors most love to sell.
What this site measures
Honest proxies only: your domain's global popularity rank from the public Tranco research list (which only ever adds points; absence never subtracts), domain age from RDAP registry records, discoverable About/Contact/Privacy pages, and linked social profiles. Commercial backlink counts require paid link-index data we don't query; the review says so instead of inventing a number.
How to improve
- Publish genuinely useful pages people reference: guides, data, tools, research.
- Do real digital PR: be the quoted expert in your niche's press.
- Fix the basics: complete About and Contact pages signal a real operation.
- Reclaim unlinked brand mentions with a polite request.
- Never buy links by the dozen; penalties outlast the vendors selling them.
Common mistakes
Paying for 'DA 50+ guest posts' on content farms. Chasing 500 directory listings nobody visits. Measuring success by link count instead of by who is linking.
